NSQ Approval
Approval for Nigerian Skills Qualifications
The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) Artisan and Craftsmen Qualifications Awarding Board approved Maryamu and Yakubu Skills Development and Educational Foundation as a Nigerian Skills Qualification (NSQ) Training Centre in July 2024.
This is a significant milestone, as NIOB is a professional body for builders and those engaged in the building profession. Also, this is a fantastic opportunity for individuals to acquire skills in various trades.
The approved training programs include:
- Carpentry: Equipping students with skills to work with wood and other materials to construct, repair, and install structures and fixtures.
- Painting and Decoration: Teaching techniques and best practices for applying paints, coatings, and other finishes to buildings and structures.
- Electrical: Covering the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in buildings.
- Masonry: Focusing on working with concrete, bricks, and other masonry materials to construct and repair buildings.
- Welding and Fabrication: Teaching students how to join and shape metal parts using various welding techniques.
- Plumbing: Students will learn how to install, maintain, and repair pipes, fixtures, and appliances that are connected to water and gas systems.
- Tiling and Decorative Stone: This program covers the installation and finishing of tiles and decorative stone surfaces.
These programs align with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), which aims to promote lifelong learning, provide quality assurance and recognition, and make progression routes easier and clearer. The NSQF is a 9-level framework that indicates the comparability of different qualifications and how one can progress from one level to another.
